My Favorite Apps That I Use Everyday As A Student
1) Notion
I first started to use Notion when I made the switch from using paper notes to digital notes. I highly recommend notion because there are so many different ways that you can view/organize your notes. Overall Notion is great for anything that you want to keep long term. I use it for mainly keeping guideline therapies, organizing ideas for my videos/website, bullet journaling, as well as my workout routines, and nutrition plan.
2) Goodnotes
This is my primary driver for class because I love the ability to interact with my notes from lectures. I am also a huge fan of writing down specific notes while importing pictures so using the Apple Pencil with my iPad Pro is the ultimate dynamic duo for me. This is also very useful when I am drawing diagrams or chemical structures. This literally saved me in organic chemistry lol 😅.
3) Anki
The primary way that I study is by making active recall questions after I have annotated my lecture slides. Anki definitely has a slight learning curve, but gets easier once you get the hang of things. The main reason that I love Anki over other applications is the spaced repetition function being timed. So it actually helps you work on material that you are struggling with. To add to that point, most of the information you learn compounds on itself so it is kinda important to remember things for the long term. This will save you a lot of time since you will not have to constantly go back and relearn material.
4) Forest
Honestly, I am one of those people that the second I hop on social media 15 minutes passes by. So for me, if I know I have certain tasks that need to get done. I just open up the Forest app and set up a quick 25 minute session. The reason I like forest over a timer is because it doesn’t have an alarm that stops you once you reach the time limit. Most of the time I go over the time limit which is a good thing👌🏾. Lastly, I like the idea that me being a little more productive in a day will help preserve the earth by planting a tree🌲.
5) Apple Notes
I have tried many different methods for making a to-do list or taking a quick note down and the one that works best for me is Apple Notes by a long shot. The reason is because for some reason whenever I am outside I start to have really good ideas. So I just pick up my phone, record a few notes then keep going on with my day. But the best part is when I get home. I am able to see the notes from my phone on my computer. This allows me to reflect as well as retain the great ideas that I would have usually just forgotten.
6) Apple Reminders
This app might just be the most important app on this list. I mean it is literally like having your own personal assistant with you at all times. By using this app I do not even have to think about all the daily tasks that I need to do and I can focus on the more important aspects of life. Out of all the apps on this list I wish I used this one sooner.
7) Apple Calendar
Being a student is great because you have a lot of time to do anything you want. This can be either be a blessing or a curse. When I started to use the Calendar app I used to time block my entire day which worked for a week until I realized I am not a robot🤖. So now I typically write down the highest priority task for myself for the day and allocate some time to that. It is also great because you can set up reminders. Lastly, I have been able to attend a lot more meetings with this app. Previously I would have to go to my email and find the link but not with this app. Now I am able to take a few important notes as well as save the links to meetings all in one place🤯.
