Building A Honey Empire
This week's post is going to feature one of my favorite entrepreneurs in the social media space, Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary serves as chairman to VaynerX and CEO of Vaynermedia, public speaker, 5 times New York Times bestselling author, and early investor in Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Venmo, and Uber.
In today's post I want to go over one of Gary's favorite sayings where he talks about building a honey empire which transformed the way I thought of him and my own career. You can check out the video here.
To sum it up the Honey Empire philosophy is building the biggest business by doing the right things and being nice to people. There is no hate towards other people or businesses, and when the opportunity comes where you can help people out, you do it.
The honey part is changing the world but the empire part is that you will do anything that it takes to reach your level of success. The reason why I think is such an interesting concept is because in most cases it seems like most people that are extremely ambitious or competitive only care about themselves. They will do anything to make sure that they win meaning not helping others to ensure their success is more guaranteed. So the way I looked at this is to put in the work necessary for success while not putting other people around you down. While I am working diligently on my craft, I should also look for ways to help more people to achieve their level of success because ultimately helping other people is good business.
When I relate this to my own life I think about this concept of helping people even if they have nothing to offer you in return. Every time I help someone I think about the impact that the interaction can have on their life. You never know how impactful that short 15-30 minute conversation can have on another person whether that leads them to talk about you positively to other people or how it could allow them immeasurable success in the future.
This is one of the reasons I decided to post content online because I know that helping others is the right thing to do. I wish I had someone like me posting these kinds of things when I was in school. With that being said, I also know I will be successful just based on my work ethic alone. When you are able to help others with a massive work ethic then you are able to create an empire of people that have been impacted by you. That leads to a ripple effect where more people can help others or know that they can achieve success the right way. It could also help me because you never know when the person you helped 10 years ago is now in a position to help you.
That is why I try to share everything because I know if I can help a future pharmacist study/learn better than that will lead to another person being able to help 100s of patients in their professional career.
